Life Guides (for college
students)
The Life
Guides are a team of college students and confirmed high school
students who are committed to assisting the youth of the St. Tom's
parish. They are instrumental in the planning, organizing and
implementation of the activities for the youth. The individuals
involved in Life Guides share their faith through the service
projects, retreats, and REI events.
REI
(grades 6th-10th)
Religious
Education Interactive, is a program designed specifically to meet
the needs of today's youth. Organized by the Life Guides,
REI is focused on creating an energetic environment where
students in 6th to 10th grade can actively
explore their faith. REI is held from 5 - 7 PM in the church
basement on Sundays and is followed by an invitation to experience
the mass as a community in the reserved youth section at the 7
PM mass (we also get involved in the mass). Activities include
games, skits, discussions and other faith/relationship
building events. Other activities such as the Hunger Hike and
retreats will take this place on occasions.
Confirmation (grade 10 and
above)
The
confirmation class meets 10:30 to noon on Sundays, and prepares
the students for the great sacred sacrament of confirmation.
A major focus is on understanding Christ’s teachings through the
gospel and through tradition. Past confirmation classes
have had retreats and service projects to prepare them for
the
sacrament.
BASIS (Confirmation and above)
BASIS
is a discussion group that talks about different topics each week.
They meet at 5:30pm on Sundays for a relaxed discussion. Don't
let the name fool you though, BASIS can get pretty deep.
