Extraordinary Ministers

Holy Communion

The extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are the lay men and women who are commissioned to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Ministers of Holy Communion, ordained and extraordinary, look into the eyes of each communicant and see the face of Christ within each communicant. Catholics come to the ministers with outstretched hands, ready to accept the Body and Blood of Christ for nourishment. The Body and Blood of Christ strengthens us for the mission of the church: go out to all the world and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.

At each of the 5 liturgies at St. Thomas Aquinas, eighteen ministers are needed to effectively distribute the Eucharist to the assembly. The evening Masses have the greatest need for more EMHCs but new faces are welcome at all the liturgies.

What a wonderful gift Catholics have in the Body and Blood of Christ.
